A VERRI History

In 1972 Leonardo Brugognone, a Sicilian-born businessman, brought up amidst textiles and fashion, decided to open the first Verri boutique in Milan, entirely dedicated to men.  After just a few years, due to the desire to meet the needs of an increasingly demanding clientèle, Verri was renowned for its ability to unite elegance, quality and creativity in a single collection. In 1978, after the brand launched its first publicity campaign, Verri began to enter the overseas markets with great success. In the following year Verri was present on the catwalks of the Milanese fashion parades with a simple but very high quality collection. The philosophy of the product was characterised by elegance without constraints and clothes of extremely high quality which could, however, be worn at any time and in any place.

At the end of the 1980s the Verri style was chosen by Paramount Pictures to create the look and the clothes for Al Pacino, Andy Garcia and Chazz Palminteri in the last episode of The Godfather trilogy by Francis Ford Coppola presented in cinemas in 1990. It was also selected for Don Johnson in the Miami Vice television series.

For more than 35 years it has become the reference point for all those men who wish to create an impression with simplicity united with originality. WRKROOM just in time for Spring.  The line is functional and fit and yet extremely affordable.  Perfect when paired with denim to dress up a casual look.  The trench coat shown above has a textured feel and is water repellant being 100% polyester.  Try on the single knit black sport coat on and you will think you just put on a sweater.  Wear the navy over shirt untucked with tapered slim wool pants, add a touch of some polished brown dress shoes and you have a flattering outfit.   WRKROOM has arrived.

Gypsy 05′

One of our favorite collections here at ELSWORTH for casual wear is Gypsy 05′.  Our shipment just came on Tuesday and it is incredible!  The brand venturing from Hollywood, CA uses patterns that are funky and hippy esque’ that will definetly strike conversation.  The over-dye designs are great when paired to henley’s and thermals. And the mercerized cotton blends are some of the most comfortable items that have ever touch my skin.  The brother sister duo are always pushing the envelope for consistently great garments like no other.  Especially fun when paired with dark jeans,  leather sandals, and accessories like bracelets and necklaces.  Thank You Gypsy 05′.

One Man Minneapolis II

Mayer is at it again! But this time around with the 2nd heat of  the One Man Minneapolis comp, the focus will be based even more on their community involvement and the charities they choose.  Last year I was lucky enough to be apart of this wonderful event, and I am glad to see it is going onward to showcase our great Twin Cities men in what they do.

ELSWORTH MENSWEAR participated in the event by styling the finalists for the event.  The feedback was wonderful and it allowed the crowd a teaser of what the store has to offer.  Look forward to Elsworth styles for One Man MPLS II .

A True Gentleman Book

In creating this book for Keith, I knew the bases I wanted to showcase, but had no idea that it would come out in the end as wonderful as it did.  This book captures the moments of our first 2 years that ELSWORTH has been around, and for those of whom we have shared it with.  This documentation is an ode to Keith Dorsett for creating and sharing his dreams of owning his own boutique with all of us.

For The Love Of Pashmina

Fresh wool and silk pashmina’s have arrived at Elsworth, and we all know the early bird gets the worm for spring.  Our wonderful selection ranges from turquiose pattern silks and woolen flowers to navy and taupe twill options.  These are great assests to any man’s wardrobe because they add a little flair to any outfit while keeping comfort as the key since they aren’t going to be as warm as a winter scarf.  Are wool options are only $42.50 and the silk at $65.00!

My personal favorite look is when matched with a suit and a shirt as seen below on David Beckham.  This will keep things very classic and clean.  Here he folds the entire pashmina in half lengthwise, grabs each end and puts the ends through the center like a slip not.
